Why You Should Buy Unseasoned Firewood for Your Log Burner

Posted on February 15, 2019 at 9:59 am

If you were to choose between seasoned and unseasoned firewood, you would definitely go for the former. This is for obvious reasons. Seasoned firewood is what almost everyone uses. Now, here comes a surprise for you. Unseasoned wood has as much benefits as seasoned wood has. Why don’t you stand aloof from the crowd and try this? This article explains why you should buy unseasoned firewood for your log burner.

1. It burns slower
How boring can it be when you just start a fire and within five minutes, all the wood has burnt up! You will have an extra task of adding wood every few minutes. This is the tussle you won’t have to go through with unseasoned firewood. It burns slowly and calmly; giving you enough time to enjoy the warmth.

2. You spend less firewood
Since wet wood burns slower, you can use just a few twigs for a very long time. Be it for cooking or just warming yourself up. It is more suitable for camping as you can stay warm the whole night with less firewood.

3. It is economical
Do you know how much time and effort it takes to season wood? Don’t even mention the cost of buying it. You don’t want to incur extra charges on expenses you can easily avoid. Who doesn’t want to save a few dollars? Buying unseasoned firewood will enable you to spend less and gain more.

4. It can help repel insects
Wet firewood burns with a lot of smoke coming out. Smoke is an awesome insect repellent. Why not kill three birds with one stone?

You will be able to cook, stay warm, and keep insects at bay.
It is high time you started buying unseasoned firewood for your log burner. Don’t just remain with that public notion of,” Wet firewood can never be helpful?”It is time for change, time for a new experience.

Problems you may encounter and overcome…

It’s all well and good choosing unseasoned firewood and having cheap logs, but there is some work involved. You need to season the wood yourself and have a log store to ensure it dries out if you want to heat up your room properly and make the most of the wood. So you do need to get into a regular cycle whereby you buy unseasoned wood, age it yourself through one or two summers and then burn it. Once you get into a pattern, you’ll find that you save significant sums and still use the best wood for your fire moving forwards.

The more effort you put in, the better your results will be. So make a good log store that breathes, and allows the air to dry the logs. You may decide to have just one or a few in the garden, but with a tight system in place, you’ll be all the better for it. But yes, there is some work involved, so be warned!

Hunting for the cheapest Easter Eggs

Posted on March 17, 2018 at 4:09 pm

Easter egg hunting is a pretty fun activity for kids and adults alike, but it doesn’t begin in parks, gardens or fields. It starts in the supermarkets!

At this time of year, it’s important to start looking at the supermarkets that sell the cheapest Easter eggs. There will always be fluctuations in prices depending on where you buy your Easter eggs, so hunt down the cheapest now and stock up before the prices pick up. If you’re not fazed by big brands like Nestle or Cadburys, why not pop to Aldi or Lidl where you can buy milk chocolate at a third of the price! Or if you already know what eggs you’d like to buy, why not head online to see if there are any deals running right now. At different times in the run-up to Easter, supermarkets will all be running promotions and some of these can be ‘buy one get one free’ or ‘buy three for the price of two’ and so on. Easter egg hunting starts now, especially if you want the lowest prices, so start looking for the best rates today.

Paying with cash over bank card to save you overspending

Posted on October 18, 2017 at 9:27 am

Many shoppers are finding that they overspend at the shops when they use their bank card to pay compared to paying with cash. With modern technology making it even easier to pay using your bank card at shops, you don’t even need to enter your pin, a simple tap of your card and it is all done for you.

With this ease of paying, shoppers find it hard to keep track of what they have spent during their shopping trip. One way to avoid overspending is to withdraw the amount of money you intend to spend and only pay for items with that cash. That way you will know when you are close to your limit and will be able to make better decisions on what you want to spend your cash on.

Just remember to keep enough cash aside to pay for your journey home, or you may end up stranded in the shopping centre until someone can come and pick you up.
