“Freedom Day” and Retail

Posted on July 19, 2021 at 10:53 am

The 19th of July is being heralded as Freedom Day with all Covid-19 restrictions lifted in England.  But what does this mean for retail businesses?

With the Summer Holidays due to start shortly, retail is pinning its hopes on a solid season.

Sales are getting better than last summer, but they are still behind the pre-pandemic sales that retailers were seeing. There is still, however, uncertainty, with the biggest challenge being how much stock to order.

Usually, the summer holidays have a negative impact on sales due to people flying abroad.  This year with families opting for a UK staycation, retail companies are hoping that this year’s sales will show growth. All retailers agree that this summer will not see a return to the pre-pandemic sales, but it will help to boost sales that are so desperately needed.
